Galloway |
Dr. Stephen Galloway
Dr. Galloway received his Bachelor’s of Science degree from the
United States Military Academy at West Point in 1986 and served as
an officer in the US Army until 1991. He is proud to be a
veteran, whose military awards include the Purple Heart Medal, the
Combat Infantryman's Badge (2 awards), the Master Parachutist Badge,
and the Ranger Tab.
Following military service, Dr. Galloway attended North
Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine and
received his
doctorate degree in 1996. He practiced in Plainview and
Lubbock, TX from 1996-1999 as a mixed animal veterinary associate
and as an emergency veterinarian. Dr. Galloway returned home
to the Mid-south in May 1999 and provided ambulatory large animal
veterinary services until opening Animal Care Hospital (ACH) in
March 2001.
Dr. Galloway’s area of professional interest is veterinary dentistry.
He is a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry
and is currently one of four veterinarians nationwide certified in
Equine Dentistry. Dr. Galloway served on the Dental Education Committee for the American
Association of Equine Practitioner (AAEP) from 2005-2008. He
has published papers in veterinary journals, has taught
veterinarians at numerous continuing education meetings, and has
taught veterinary students at several universities.
Dr. Galloway is a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, the Memphis/Shelby County Veterinary Medical
Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and
the American Veterinary Dental Society. He has been a member
of the Executive Board of
Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association since 2005 and is currently
the President-elect of the TnVMA.

Dr. Melanie Galloway
Dr. Galloway received her bachelor of science and doctorate degrees from North Carolina
State University. After
graduation from veterinary school in 1996, she practiced at Acres North Animal Hospital in Lubbock,
Texas for three years, focusing on small animal and avian medicine and surgery.
In 1999 she moved to Tennessee and practiced at Animal Hospital
Raleigh-Bartlett and VetMed of west Tennessee, prior to joining ACH
in 2003,.
Dr. Galloway’s practice focus is small animal dentistry. Her love
of dentistry developed as a result of seeing the dramatic health
benefits that dental care provides. She began specialty
training in 2001, since this field requires specific training in
dental procedures, equipment, and materials, and is currently
pursuing an Academy of Veterinary Dentistry Fellowship. She
has taught dentistry to other veterinarians at the Memphis/Shelby
County VMA annual meeting.
Dr. Galloway is a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Association, the Memphis/Shelby County Veterinary Medical
Association, and the American Veterinary Dental Society. She
is an executive board member for the Memphis/Shelby County
Veterinary Medical Association.
The Galloways live on their family farm with their 3 children
(triplets, a litter), 8 dogs, 2 cats, 4 horses, and 2 goats.
